 | | Kenyon College Workshop | | April 23, 2008, 2:30pm | | "Log On To Your Legacy Today" | | Kenyon College | | Legacy is much more than what happened in the past. It’s right here, right now. It’s for you to appreciate. Explore yourself from the perspective: “How do I wish to remember myself.” In this workshop, Dr. Sheppard Kominars (Kenyon ‘53) will help you explore some of the basics for creating journal entries you can use in writing Legacy Letters to loved ones, friends, grandchildren, future progeny. His new book, Write For Life: Healing Body, Mind and Spirit Through Journal Writing, has just been published by the Cleveland Clinic Press and he has presented workshops all over the country on the healing benefits that occur from the simple activity of writing in a journal. He began writing in 1955 and scientific research over the past twenty years have confirmed what he discovered on his own. Writing Legacy Letters is only one of the many journeys that appear in his book. You’ll be delighted with the discoveries you make that can open the door on getting more out of life and improving your health. | | | Kenyon College Workshop | | April 24, 2008, 11:10am | | Stress Reduction | | Kenyon College | | Being a student is stressful. Engaging in life is stressful. “And the beat goes on!” As a student at Kenyon in the early 1950's, Sheppard Kominars wasn’t aware of the difference journal writing could make in reducing the stress in his life. But in 1955, in the midst of migraine headaches, his physician introduced him to the healing benefits that journal writing offers. He continued using this technique through crises of every dimension and his new book, “Write for Life: Healing Body, Mind and Spirit Through Journal Writing,” just published by the Cleveland Clinic Press, presents the insights he and the participants in his workshops have discovered that can improve your health and help you have more fun and enjoyment in your life. This workshop will focus on one of the chapters in the book: “Self Caring.” Discover for yourself how writing in a journal can reduce stress on a daily basis.
